Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

WeightSnap ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Tyler Brown, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the WeightSnap mobile application.

Summary

The short version: Your health data stays on your device. We don't require accounts to use the app, and your weight entries, photos, and measurements are not stored on any server we control. We rely on a few external services: RevenueCat for managing premium subscriptions, TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage statistics, and xAI (the company behind the Grok AI model) for the optional AI features. The AI features only send data after you read what they send and tap Allow in the app, and you can turn that off at any time. We don't sell your data.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

WeightSnap stores all of the following information locally on your device only:

This data is stored on your phone, using Apple's SwiftData framework on iPhone and Room on Android. WeightSnap does not operate its own servers or databases for your health data, so your weight entries, photos, and measurements never leave your device except when you choose to use one of the AI features and allow it (iPhone only, see AI Features below) or choose to share content. Subscription and purchase data is handled separately by RevenueCat (see Subscription Management below).

Apple Health Integration

If you choose to enable Apple Health integration, WeightSnap can:

This data exchange happens on your device between WeightSnap and Apple Health. Apple Health data is never sold, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with anyone, with one exception you control: if you use AI Insights and allow it, your recent activity (steps, active calories, workouts and resting heart rate) is included in what is sent to create your insight (see AI Features below).

Health Connect Integration (Android)

On Android, WeightSnap integrates with Health Connect instead of Apple Health. If you choose to connect Health Connect and grant the corresponding permissions, WeightSnap can:

This data exchange happens entirely on your device between WeightSnap and Health Connect. Health Connect data is never sent to external services, never shared with third parties, never sold, and never used for advertising or marketing. You can hide an imported value for any day, disconnect the integration at any time in Settings, and revoke permissions at any time in Health Connect itself. Deleting your WeightSnap data removes the imported copies from the app without affecting the original data stored in Health Connect.

AI Features (iPhone)

WeightSnap has two optional AI features on iPhone. Both are created by an AI model run by xAI, the company behind the Grok AI model. Your data is sent through WeightSnap's server (a small program we run on Cloudflare's network), which passes it to xAI and returns the result without saving it.

Nothing is sent until you allow it. The first time you use each feature, the app shows exactly what will be sent and to whom, and asks for your permission. You can turn either feature's permission off at any time in Settings, under AI Features.

AI Insights sends:

AI Insights does not send your progress photos, doses or medications.

AI body fat estimate sends:

The body fat estimate does not send your other photos, doses or medications.

The data is used only to create your result. It is not used for advertising and is never sold. xAI processes it under its own privacy policy.

The Time Machine feature can also ask the AI service for short motivational quotes. That request contains only the number of quotes wanted and recent quotes to avoid repeating; it contains no personal data.

Usage Analytics

The app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count anonymous usage events such as which screens are opened. These events never include your weights, doses, medication names, photos, or any health values, and they are not linked to your identity. The app does not use the advertising identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Subscription Management

WeightSnap offers an optional premium subscription. To process purchases, validate subscriptions, and keep your premium access in sync across your devices, we use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service.

When you buy or restore a premium subscription, RevenueCat receives:

RevenueCat never receives your weight data, progress photos, body measurements, or any health information. It only handles the purchase and subscription data needed to manage your premium access. You can review how RevenueCat handles data in its privacy policy.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Data Storage and Security

All personal data is stored locally on your device (apart from what you choose to send with the AI features, described above), protected by your device's passcode and biometrics and by the operating system's own encryption: Apple's secure storage frameworks and Face ID/Touch ID on iPhone, Android's encrypted app storage and biometric unlock on Android.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual entries, use Settings to reset all data, or simply uninstall the app.

Website Analytics

This policy covers the WeightSnap mobile app. Our website at weightsnap.app uses Google Analytics to measure general visitor traffic, such as which pages are viewed and the approximate region visitors come from. This is separate from the app and does not involve any of your in-app health data. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Children's Privacy

WeightSnap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
